John Chen

Co-Founder & General Partner

John is a Co-Founder and General Partner at Crom Cortana Fund. Prior to co-founding Crom, John worked on acquisition finance transactions consisting of acquisition bridges, TLAs, RCFs, and bond issuances on BNP Paribas’ Investment Grade Finance team. Before that, he worked for a private fund originating and structuring equity and credit transactions. Previously, he worked for Crom Industries analyzing investments in early stage healthcare companies. John graduated from New York University with a BA in Economics.

Liam Sherif

Co-Founder & General Partner

Liam is a Co-Founder and General Partner at Crom Cortana Fund. Prior to co-founding Crom, Liam worked for a private investment firm analyzing both debt and equity opportunities across a wide range of industries and stages of growth. He has particular experience performing due diligence for complex transactions involving illiquid securities. Previously, he worked for Crom Industries conducting due dilligence on early stage healthcare and software companies . Liam holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Yale University.

Raghib Hussain

Hussain served as co-founder, chief technology officer and chief operating officer of Cavium, Inc., which was acquired by Marvell in 2018 for a valuation of $6B. Hussain, who holds more than 40 patents in the fields of networking and security, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in computer systems engineering from NED University in Karachi, Pakistan, a Master of Science degree in computer engineering from San Jose State University, and an Executive MBA from Stanford University. Since 2018 he has served on the Center for Asia Pacific Policy (CAPP) advisory board of the RAND Corporation, a nonprofit research organization that develops solutions to public policy challenges.

Tarek Sherif

Over the span of 20 years, in his role as CEO, Sherif led Medidata Solutions from startup to becoming one of the leading global providers of cloud-based solutions to the life science industry and the largest in clinical development, while defining the vertical cloud company business model. Medidata is the most-used platform for clinical trials around the world, powering tens of thousands of clinical trials, with millions of patients. In 2019, in one of the largest healthcare technology acquisitions in history, Medidata became part of Dassault Systemes.
Sherif received his BA in economics from Yale University and graduated from Columbia Business School in 1991. He serves as the co-chair of the Partnership Fund for New York City, which is focused on creating business opportunities and jobs for city residents. Tarek also sits on the advisory board of Students on Ice, a not-for-profit organization focused on inspiring youth through educational expeditions to the polar regions, and the Musculoskeletal Advisory Board at NYU Langone Medical Center.
